Eden & Mark

Eden and Mark said ‘I do’ with the help of their fur babies! Their wonderful wedding was held on Saturday 23rd June, 2018. We asked them a few questions about their special day, read on for their answers in their own words.

How did you meet?
We met in High School.

How did Mark pop the question?
I got a call on my birthday saying he popped into his mums place and now his car won’t start so could I come and pick him up. I was in a bit of a flap because we had dinner reservations. I arrived at his mums and he said, “Have you seen what mum has done to the paddock down the back”(She lives on 10 acres), I said no, so we wandered down the back. We were looking around at the horses and the sunset and as I turned around Mark was behind me on one knee. My initial reaction was ‘oh did you fall down”. He laughed and said no, then some lovely words and will you marry me? I said “nahhhh” then “of course”.

Why did you choose Indooroopilly Golf Club as your wedding venue?
We chose IGC because the packages are so inclusive, our coordinator was so lovely and informative at the first meeting and of course the grounds are immaculate.

Favourite Wedding Day memory?
We really can’t choose a favourite memory – our entire day was amazing. Having our fur babies Spok & Kruger with us was incredible, and of course all the important people in our lives were there.

Ceremony Musical Choices
Bride’s Entrance: I swear – All 4 One
Ceremony Exit: Darude – Sandstorm

Reception Musical Choices
Reception Entrance: C+C – Gonna Make you Sweat
First Dance: I believe I can Fly – R.Kelly
Father / Daughter Dance: A Little Ray of Sunshine – Axiom – Sung by Eden’s cousin.

Were there any funny moments throughout your day?
Our whole wedding was full of funny moments – we don’t like to take life too serious and just joked around all day. The funniest moment was probably Mark’s speech. His final line was “let’s toast to getting out of the friend zone”

Did you include any personal touches to your day?
Well, I guess you could call our wedding ‘Non-Traditional’. We had quite a few personal touches. Mark handmade our arbour. Our cake had skulls and little doggies on it. The biggest personal touch was our table centrepieces. Each table had a different theme that represented us as a couple or as individuals. Basically things we love. We had a Mermaid Table, Star Trek Table, Dog Table, Sewing Table, Simpsons Table, Car table, Skull Table and a Games Table.

What advice would you give to future couples planning a wedding?
Our advice would be to relax, breathe and enjoy the planning. The day goes so fast so don’t worry yourself with too many specifics, small stumbles will not ruin your day. Don’t create you wedding to please others; it’s all about you two!

Is there anything else you would like to say about your special day?
We can’t thank our Event Coordinator enough. She was just amazing with communication, nothing was too hard and she was super accommodating. She truly made the entire process stress free. We did throw her a spanner by setting up our unusual centrepieces, but boy did she nail it! We cannot toot her horn enough!
