Gretel & Chris

I guess its true what they say, the couple that dances together……

Gretel and Chris’ stunning wedding was held on Saturday 25th August, 2018. We asked them a few questions about their special day, read on for their answers in their own words.

How did you meet?
In 2008, Gretel attended a dance class at Mad Dance House in Brisbane City. Chris was the teacher (teaching a popping class).
At the end of the class, Gretel asked Chris what the song was they were dancing too – Chris gave Gretel his CD and his number.

How did Chris pop the question?
Chris surprised Gretel with a trip overseas to Cuba. On the last day of the holiday on a beach in Varadero,
he popped the question.

Why did you choose Indooroopilly Golf Club as your wedding venue?
Indooroopilly Golf Club was close to Chris’s heart with him spending many of his teenage years playing high level Amateur golf competitions (alongside his best man Shane). When we started looking at wedding venues, two things we knew we wanted were a pretty outdoor ceremony area and a big dance floor. When we went and visited IGC, it had both of these and so much more. It ticked all of our boxes!

Favourite Wedding Day memory?
We really loved every minute of our day. The ceremony was beautiful, the photo shoot on the golf course was a lot of fun, and everyone had an amazing time dancing at the reception.
The surprise dance from Chris and his dance crew Swagamama was also a big hit!

Ceremony Musical Choices|
Bride’s Entrance: A thousand years by The Piano Guys
Ceremony Exit: Move on up by Curtis Mayfield

Reception Musical Choices
Reception Entrance: No diggity, Blackstreet
First Dance: When we were young by Adele, followed by a guest performance from the grooms dance crew, Swagamama

Were there any funny moments throughout your day?
When Gretel’s 3 year old niece, Audrey interrupted the ceremony by yelling out “I do” before Gretel could,
and when Gretel’s heavily pregnant bridesmaid Danielle spilt a bottle of water all over her dress in the limousine 5 minutes before arriving at the venue.

Did you include any personal touches to your day?
We are both easy going people and we feel our wedding had a romantic but relaxed feel about it which truly reflected us as a couple. We loved that we were able to hold our wedding just 3 days before our 10 year anniversary together.

What advice would you give to future couples planning a wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t worry about what others have done or want you to do, just focus on what represents you and your partner. Invest in a venue that provides a wedding coordinator – lifesaver if you are time poor and need someone to keep you on track
