Michael and Jenny

Michael and Jenny celebrated their love with a carnival inspired party! Their wedding was held on Saturday 9th November, 2019.  We asked them a few questions about their special day, read on for their answers in their own words.

How did you meet?
We met at speed dating four years ago and five minutes turned into a life time together.

How did Michael pop the question?
He proposed on Christmas Eve. One of my Colombian traditions is to open the presents at midnight so he embraced the idea, keeping me up late to follow that custom. He asked me to open a special present which surprised me when it turned out to be my engagement ring.

Why did you choose Indooroopilly Golf Club as your wedding venue?
We were looking for a place that was in town, had beautiful views, space for all of our guests, variety on the menu and space for some dancing. We met Stephanie, who took us on a tour of the venue, and answered all of our questions in a way that gave us confidence that we were dealing with professionals, who were experienced at organising wedding receptions.

Favourite Wedding Day memory?
Racing the golf carts was awesome when we were taking pictures, all of us in our wedding outfits and Stephanie with a beautiful basket of wine and goodies to celebrate. Also the weather, the sky and the views were amazing.

Ceremony Musical Choices

Bride’s Entrance: Canon in D major – Pachelbel

Ceremony Exit: A Thousand Years – Christina Perri

Reception Musical Choices

First Dance: You Are the Reason – Calum Scott

Father / Daughter and Mother/Groom Dance: Manizales del Alma – Pasodoble – Guayacan Orquesta

Were there any funny moments throughout your day?
Weddings are very big to organise and there were details that we did not have time to check up on. Our plan was to dance into the room so we sent a link to the song, it was a funny moment when we asked our bridal party if they were ready for the entrance, they did not know the song that was going to play. They did a great job improvising their dance ten minutes before the scheduled time. It made us laugh watching them getting ready for the show.

Did you include any personal touches to your day?
We turned the reception into a colourful masquerade party after the first dance. Everyone was enjoying the mix of Aussie and Colombian culture.

What advice would you give to future couples planning a wedding?
Focus on what is important and meaningful for you, everything else will be ok. Doing the things that make you happy will create a beautiful memory of your wedding.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your special day?
IGC was the best decision we took when planning our wedding. Stephanie focuses on every detail from dietary requirements to decorations and foot spa after a big day.
