Supritha and Jason

Jason and Supritha’s beautiful wedding was held on Saturday 30th October, 2021. We asked them a few questions about their special day, read on for their answers in their own words.

How did you choose Indooroopilly Golf Club as your wedding venue?
When Googling wedding venues, I saw beautiful images of jacaranda trees. We went with IGC as I knew about how popular the venue was for jacarandas.

How did you meet?
Jason and I first met at The Elephant in Fortitude Valley, at a 90’s dress-up party, on his birthday.  I was dressed up as Cher from Clueless. We got along well at The Elephant. He asked me out for coffee, and I had a lot going on with Uni, so I kept forgetting about it. We hadn’t talked for months and then we suddenly found ourselves sitting next to each other, at our mutual friend’s summer get-together. She was one of my bridesmaids. From then on something just sparked, and 3 years later we got married.

Reception Musical Choices

Ceremony Entrance: Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn

Reception Entrance: Happy by Pharrell Williams

First Dance: Mix of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and All of Me by John Legend

Favourite Wedding Day memory?

Easy…for me it was seeing my very logical man trying his best not to tear up while standing there with me at the ceremony.

For Jason he loved the indoor fireworks part of the reception.  It felt really special to enter the room with all that applause and the magical fireworks.

Did you include any personal touches to your day?

Yes, since we come from two different ethnic backgrounds, I couldn’t find a cake topper that reflected us. I found a wonderful person on Etsy called ArtificeProducciones who handmade custom cake toppers according to the couple’s visual appearance. Since I’m Indian and we couldn’t travel to India to do the traditional Tamil parts of the wedding, Jason happily agreed to add a few Indian elements to the wedding. We had a Ganesh ceremony to remember all the loved ones who couldn’t be with us (we were tearing up so much while doing this), and we had a garland ceremony to pay respect to my culture. Since my family couldn’t fly over we arranged a livestream of the ceremony.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your special day?
Jason and I recommend indoor/outdoor fireworks.  They definitely add a special touch to your wedding. We also suggest taking a few minutes to just spend time and talk to each other. The whole day passes by so fast and you’re spending time with your friends and well-wishers, that having those few minutes with your partner makes you feel like a million bucks.
